Parajes Del Valle, Monastrell Ecologico, 2020
Monastrell (Mourvèdre) from the searing heat of Jumilla has been known for producing some jammy, unbalanced, high alcohol wines, but this example from a progressive new producer shows the potential of the grape and terroir in capable hands. Old vines are used for purity of fruit, maintained through the winemaking process by use of stainless steel and concrete. The end product is a fresh red fruit experience balanced by some tannic grip and vibrant acidity.
