Vigneti Zabú ‘Il Passo’, Nerello Mascalese/Nero d'Avola, Sicily 2022

This wine estate has recently been joined by two talented winemakers who are now making the most of the high quality vineyards. 60% Nerello Mascalese/40% Nero d”Avola, the grapes hail from the area around Lake Arancio in south west Sicily. They are dried until they have lost 30% of their weight and then matured in oak for 6 months, producing a wine with a nose of fresh, juicy red fruit whilst being both rich and supple on the palate. It would pair well with ragu pasta, or for the adventurous, steak in a savoury chocolate sauce.
