WSET Level 3 Award in Wines - Now at Must & Lees

WSET Level 3 — Now Live at Must & Lees

After much anticipation, we’re delighted to announce that the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines is now open for enrolment at Must & Lees.

This course has been one of our most requested offerings since we launched our wine school, and with good reason. Level 3 represents a real step up in understanding — the point at which wine education starts to move beyond grapes and winemaking, and begins to focus on place.

A Deeper Understanding of Wine

Level 2 introduces the world’s main grape varieties and the fundamentals of production, but Level 3 goes further — it’s where students start to think about why wines taste the way they do. Climate, soil, altitude, exposure, winemaking choices, and regional traditions all come into play. It’s a deep dive into terroir — the subtle and complex interaction between people, place, and grape that defines the world’s greatest wines.

We’ve taken our time to design a course that does justice to this stage of study. Every detail has been considered — from the structure and pacing of the sessions to the selection of wines, which we’ve chosen carefully to bring the theory to life. Expect benchmark classics that perfectly illustrate each region’s style, alongside a few bottles from our own list that showcase why we love what we do. Needless to say, the tastings themselves offer as much pleasure as they do insight.

Flexible Study Options

We’re offering a range of study options to suit different schedules, including Monday evening, Wednesday evening, and Sunday formats. Each course includes around 30 hours of guided tuition and tastings of more than 80 wines, led by our experienced WSET-certified tutors at both our Fitzrovia and Islington locations.

Who It’s For

While Level 3 is certainly more in-depth than Level 2, it’s by no means exclusive to those working in the trade. Many of our students join simply because they love wine and want to understand it on a deeper level. If you’ve completed Level 2 and found yourself wanting to know more about the “why” behind great wines, Level 3 is the natural next step.

The Assessment

The final assessment is, of course, more challenging than before — but nothing to fear. It includes a multiple-choice paper, a series of short written answers, and a practical tasting exam where you’ll identify and describe two wines using the WSET Systematic Approach. Throughout the course, our tutors will guide you through each component, ensuring you’re well prepared and confident when the day comes.
